mary + leif {love shoot}

He walked her home after the swing dance lesson.
He asked her out on a date.
And that’s how it began.

To sum it up, one word: COOL. Mary and Leif are cool.
I love having clients I could be friends with. In fact, that is how it should be.
I want to be friends with my clients, and I love it when things click.

“We brought flowers.” said Leif.
“We like props.” said Mary.
But the truth is, those are not just ordinary props. Leif has been giving Mary flowers everyday since they got engaged.
That is the sweetest thing I’ve heard.

colors around the block

We went out for an evening walk today and look at what I found! Spring is finally here, and the colors are simply amazing. I love this time of the year — fresh air, warm sun, low humidity, and everything just look so lively.

These are all taken with my 50mm f1.2 lens. Love love love the shallow depth of field.

Let’s start with the rhubarb in our backyard and some flowers on the tree in my neighbor’s yard. I was pretty amazed to see the rhubarb flowers. Well, that just shows how much I know about plants — LOL. I definitely do not have a green thumb.

I have a secret admiration for dandelions. I do believe that one day they will take over the world.

Lilacs smell so good! Check out the pretty light — I wish it stays like this throughout the year.

Amelie - This is sooooo refreshing and so beautiful !! I love all this spring bokeh and pink and green ! I hadn’t realized you had a house and a backyard, I had assumed you lived in an apartment :D Good for you !

I also didn’t know about rhubarb flowers .. good to know :)

This post was like a breath of fresh air and a vitamin overload, thanks for that :)

ailing - Hey C, I will send you the ones you like for your desktop. :)

Amelie, the 1.2 lens really makes awesome bokeh. We live in a small house with a little front/back yard. :)

Lauranne - what a wonderful lens… the shot with the dandelions taking the world and the house in the background is awesome, awesome, AWESOME !!

ailing - Hey there, Lauranne!!
A lot of people might want to strangle me for saying this, but I love dandelions.
There, I said it. LOL

Vanessa - these are all just so so lovely…

hope you are doing well and feeling good little lady!

amanda + ellis {love shoot}

A stranger said to them, “You two should dance because you guys look so cute together.”
And they did.
And they have been together since.
And it has been seven years.

A few days ago I met with Amanda and Ellis at the chic St. Anthony Main area for their engagement session. These two are so stylish, and fun to be around with. I had such a great time working with them! Lots of favorites, I am really having a hard time to decide which one to post, so I am going to post them all. Brace yourself for Amanda and Ellis’s awesomeness. They totally brought it.

I usually have a very strong idea when I process a photo, a particular feel that I want it to be, but with this session, I really can’t decide. I am leaning towards the black and white ones because they reminds me of the Calvin Klein ads — Amanda and Ellis, maybe you guys should consider modeling!! : )

So, color or black and white? What do you think?

Amanda and Ellis, thank you for sharing an evening with me and letting me to get to know you better. You guys are beyond fabulous. I hope the wedding planning is going smoothly, and congratulations on the new house! I look forward to photograph your wedding!!

warmly,
Ai Ling

Amanda and Ellis - We love the photos, thank you so much!!
As for your question about black and white or color, in some pictures we really love the black and white, but others we really love the color. My eyes really pop out! You did such a fabulous job! We couldn’t be happier! Thanks again and we are even more excited for our wedding day!

Amanda and Ellis

Calista - Absolutely gorgeous! I LOVE Amanda’s eyes, really nice! I don’t really like blue eyes, but hers are so beautiful! The photos are great! I prefer the color ones as the blue eyes are really nice, it’s a waste if they are not shown in the photo. Black and white ones are nice too :) Well done! They look great together!!!
Congratulation to Amanda and Ellis!
Well done!

ailing - Thank you! :)
